Turkey vultures taking care of coyote

Two turkey vultures spent the last few days cleaning-up a dead coyote near the top of the hill on Lake Alice Road. I don't own long lenses so this is a close as I could get.

LACA Spring Road Clean-up

Last Saturday, the rain broke long enough for a road clean-up. Barb & Barb take a short photo-op break.

396% Snoqualmie growth in decade

I moved to Lake Alice in 1998 and didn't realize how much the ridge population was going to grow. For long-time Lake residents, the change is that much more. Little Lake Alice with Snoqualmie Ridge in the background.

Sunny Day at Lake Alice

Beautiful morning, think I'll stick my head in the snow.

Beautiful Thursday morning

A bit more snow overnight

Shoveled driveway last night... then today

Lake Alice Road was slick, but drivable

Last night the Saab made it up the hill at 6:30 PM. Front wheel drive with all-season tires. Really slow at the top; speedometer in Element reading about zero.

Sunny Wednesday morning

What a morning yesterday - long shadows!  Stella enjoys the sun too. Water seems a bit low considering the wet January.

Snow nose

Why do dogs run and dip their nose in the snow? Stella did it early this year when we had snow.

King County Comp Plan 2012 Update

Many of you are aware of the meeting held last Monday night at Chief Kanim Middle School. Paul Reitenbach provided insight into what is happening with both the 2012 county comprehensive and the Fall City subarea plans. Paul is the Comprehensive Plan Project Manager with the Department of Development & Environmental Services (DDES). Councilmember Kathy Lambert was in attendance and provided additional information.

Citizens offered comments, many regarding the character of Fall City and how the subarea plan is impacting the business district. Sewage treatment is one of the most significant issues prevents any zoning or use changes. Paul mentioned that Duvall is currently using a membrane system that may have other applications in King County. If the membrane technology (or other treatment system) proves appropriable for Fall City, funding will be a hurdle.

Kathy & Paul look forward to input from the community; I've linked their contact information below.
